The JNH Lifestyles Joyous and Joyous+ are two-person far infrared saunas with the same outside size, 47.3 x 39.5 x 75 inches. The difference is heat and extras. The Joyous tops out at 140°F with 7 carbon heaters. The Joyous+ goes up to 170°F with 8 heaters, adds an optional white reading lamp, and has a published low EMF reading. Pick the Joyous if you want long, moderate sessions in a simpler cabin. Pick the Joyous+ if you want hotter sessions and the extra features.

Size, weight, heater count, heat and features from each model’s Amazon listing. Inside size, EMF and the Joyous+ power figure from JNH’s Joyous+ specification page. The Joyous power figure is JNH’s answer for its 1 and 2 person saunas. Warranty from each listing’s warranty field (Joyous: residential use). Where sold: JNH’s Joyous collection page on 15 October 2026 lists the Joyous+ 2-Person but not the original Joyous 2 Person.

The differences that matter

Heat: 140°F or 170°F

This is the main reason to choose one over the other. The Joyous listing says you can set it to a maximum of 140°F. JNH says the 140°F cap on its control panels is an ETL safety setting, and that it suits long infrared sessions of up to 60 minutes. The Joyous+ listing says it reaches up to 170°F and is engineered to reach and hold the temperature you set.

Infrared cabins warm your body directly rather than heating the air, so 120°F to 140°F is enough for a full sweat for most people. If you’re used to a traditional sauna and find 140°F too mild, the Joyous+ gets closer to that feel. Our guide to infrared vs traditional saunas explains the difference.

Heaters and where they sit

The Joyous has 7 carbon fiber heaters on free-floating panels, per its listing. The Joyous+ has 8. JNH’s specification page lists where they go: 3 on the back wall, 2 at the shoulders, 2 at the legs and 1 at the calves, 1700 watts in total. JNH also says the Joyous+ panels can be swapped out with a screwdriver if one ever fails.

EMF

If EMF matters to you, the Joyous+ is the one with a number. JNH lists an average reading of under 8 mG measured from the center of the heater, based on tests by Intertek and Vitatech, and notes that levels can vary with where the sauna sits and the equipment used to measure. The Joyous listing describes low EMF construction but doesn’t give a reading.

Lighting

Both have a chromotherapy (color) light. The Joyous+ listing title says red light therapy, but the feature it describes is the color light plus a white reading lamp. It doesn’t describe a separate red light therapy panel, so don’t buy it expecting one.

Size, weight and setup

Both cabins take the same floor space, so either fits where the other would. The Joyous+ weighs 303 pounds against the Joyous’s 250, which makes the build a little heavier work. JNH gives the Joyous+ inside size as 44.75 x 37 x 71.5 inches with a 42-inch bench, and its Amazon listing calls it a true two-person cabin. Both arrive as panels; plan on two people for assembly.

Power

Neither needs an electrician. JNH says its 1 and 2 person saunas run on a standard 110V to 120V, 15 amp household outlet, and lists a dedicated 120V, 15 amp outlet for the Joyous+. In practice, give either one an outlet that isn’t shared with another big load, and plug it straight into the wall rather than into an extension cord.

Warranty and price

The warranty fields on the two Amazon listings differ: 2 years for residential use on the Joyous, and 1-year standard on the Joyous+. Bought from JNH’s own store, the Joyous+ comes with a 1-year warranty on the electrical parts, heaters and wood structure, with longer cover available at extra cost. The Joyous+ is the more expensive of the two on Amazon; prices change often, so compare both listings on the day you buy.
